Closest shape to the photographs and to our model. Leather reads too smooth.
3D AI Compare
We hand AI models the same brief a 3D studio gets and ask for the finished thing: a web-ready asset and a configurator built to sell. Then we measure what comes back against the real product.
No CAD this time: four product photographs, the overall size and the maker's spec. Four models, two rounds. Round two was our feedback as the client. Surface distance is measured against the model our own 3D artist made, which the client approved.
Closest shape to the photographs and to our model. Leather reads too smooth.
Best leather grain of the four. Toe and heel still read square.
Biggest jump between rounds. A crease is left across the vamp.
Fastest by far. A fold runs along the side and heel.
A cordless aluminium table lamp, eight colourways. Both models shipped in 28 minutes. Our own version, built by our team of three, took roughly 20 hours.
Quantised and meshopt-compressed. Chose the lighter file.
Uncompressed Float32. Chose to be exact to the micron.
The manufacturer publishes the real CAD for this lamp. Every vertex of each delivered asset is measured against it, independently of what the models report about themselves. Both delivered exactly 7,474 triangles, the same count as the CAD. Neither reduced the geometry, and both were right not to.

Episode 02 has no CAD. The four product photographs are the judge: every model, ours included, is measured against them from the side and from above. Episode 02 write-up: teatika.com/blog/can-ai-make-a-3d-model-from-photos.
